Job description

What You Will Do

• Verify the build: Walk sites before install to confirm pathways, tray, racks, frames, labeling, power, and access. Inspect workmanship in progress. Audit finished work with frame and port level checks, end face inspection, and OTDR plus loss plus polarity validation. Author punch lists, verify fixes, sign off readiness.
• Own the documentation: Create and update splice plans, fiber and port maps, rack elevations, and one line diagrams in the client systems of record. Standardize naming and labeling across sites. Confirm as builts and inventory match the field at handover.
• Lead the field: Run prework reviews, witness testing, escalate issues same day, coach install techs, and manage your dispatch queue and reporting across multiple sites.
• Build the service: Refine checklists, templates, and acceptance criteria. Spot repeat failure patterns and feed them into training and process improvements. Mentor junior engineers.
• Report like an owner: Readiness reports, daily notes, verification reports within 2 business days, plus yield and defect trends.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6 plus years in data center fiber deployment, verification, or operations with high density MPO and ribbon experience.
• Expert at reading, creating, and correcting design packages, splice plans, port maps, elevations, and test specs.
• Hands on: fusion splicing, end face inspection, OTDR, insertion and return loss, polarity testing.
• Working knowledge of TIA 568, TIA 942, IEC 61300 3 35, and procedure driven work.
• Proficiency in fiber management and DCIM style systems of record, not only redlines.
• Program ownership: competing priorities across sites, reporting SLAs met, risks and status communicated without prompting.
• Able to work independently, hold vendors accountable, travel up to 100% with off hours windows, walk large sites and OSP areas, lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hyperscale or large colocation builds. Migration work such as loopbacks, revalidation, cutover handover.
• CAD or Visio. Light Brigade or equivalent. BICSI and OSHA 10 or 30 a plus.
• Prior verification, commissioning, or field QA. Prior service or program building. Thrives in new programs with evolving processes.
